A therapist once said to me that anxiety comes from the space between who you are and who others think you are. It stuck with me as I had spent so much of my life people pleasing. Peace came when I became open and vulnerable with those around me.

Everyone’s body is different which means we all eat differently. If you and I ate the exact same thing and exercised the same way our bodies still would look nothing alike! Why? Well there are a lot of factors that go into our body size for example genetics, environment, stress levels and even the length of our intestines! Yup, if I were to have longer intestines I’d absorb more calories as I digest food. Crazy right? Which means you need to stop comparing your eating habits to others. Eat intuitively and live a life of food freedom.

Looking to start a New Years Resolution that will really help you this year? Try singing! Why? Well when we sing we exhale longer than we inhale and when this happens it triggers our vagus nerve and puts us into a parasympathetic state (rest, digest and heal). The only reason we want to set a New Year's resolution to lose weight is because we think we’ll be happier if we do. But it’s not our body that creates our feelings, it’s our thoughts.

“Love is the opposite of control, love demands trust" -Glennon Doyle. We have been taught we can't trust our own bodies. That we need to be told what to eat, how much to eat and when to eat. Control, control, control. Love. What if we loved ourselves to know that we can trust ourselves.
That it is only by implementing control that we feel out of control because we were never meant to be controlled. I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again. We will never be free by implementing control.

Wanting food is like a warning light on the dashboard of your car. Sometimes that warning light wanting food is hunger. Other times the want for food is a warning sign for something else.
For example: Are you extremely overwhelmed and are using food to decompress and cope? Are you lonely and seeking comfort in food? Are you not eating enough during the day and are simply hungry at night? Getting annoyed at warning light on the dashboard or even just ignoring it won’t make it go away. Get curious about your hunger.
