Why do diets fail?
Because it goes against everything our body is trying to do to keep us alive. It’s not self-sabotage it’s self-protection.
When we restrict calories our body thinks that something has gone wrong, that we’re sick. Calories are energy and our body whose only job is to keep us alive doesn’t like the deprivation of energy, it sees it as a threat.
Which means that not long into your diet you’ll get cravings to eat lots of high calorie (energy) food. This is not you self-sabotaging.This is your body making sure you’re okay and getting you to eat to keep you alive (thanks body).
We need this fail safe to kick in. So next time you think about dieting and restricting your food, just don’t. It’s not gonna work AND since weight loss isn’t the key to happiness it’s just going to be a huge waste of your time.
