How is your New Year starting off?
I know COVID is crazy right now around the world so if you're feeling tense and anxious, you're not alone.
For myself, after taking a few weeks off work and minimizing my time on social media I'm slowly getting back to my routine here in Portugal and this includes getting back to my Friday Food For Thought so here we go!
Sometimes our food cravings have nothing to do with food.
Sometimes what we are truly craving is an escape from our current reality. We want to numb and distract to avoid feeling how we're feeling. The next time you're craving something but you're not physically hungry, take a moment to sit with the feeling.
Ask yourself what this craving might really be about? What is the emotion I am trying to avoid? Where might this emotion be coming from?
The better we're able to identify and sit with our emotions the more connected to our body we become.

Use whatever chocolate and nuts you have in your pantry in this quick and easy cookie recipe that's perfect for when you're stuck inside. You can freeze the balls of uncooked dough and cook for 20 minutes at 180°C.
Ingredients
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and line 2-3 large trays with baking paper.
2. Place sugars and flours in a bowl and mix to combine. Stir in the butter, egg and vanilla to form a dough. Stir in the nuts and chocolate.
3. Working with 1 heaped tablespoon of dough at a time, roll into a ball and place on prepared trays, leaving about 3cm between each cookie.
4. Place in oven (in batches if necessary) and cook for 12-14 minutes until edges are golden and lightly caramelized.
5. Cool for 5 minutes on trays before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Sprinkle with salt flakes, if desired, before serving.
ENJOY!

Check out Laura's testimonial after completing my 90 Days To Food Freedom 1:1 Coaching Program.
Although I wasn't conscious of this at the time, I discovered Victoria when I was finally ready to start investing in mending my relationship with myself (which is what really lies at the heart of all my issues with food, exercise, and my body).
Victoria gave me the language and tools I needed to re-establish a connection with myself and to build trust with the parts of me that I had long since banished. The spirit of compassion she brings to each call clearly stems from this internal well of compassion she has for herself.
She's been a model for me of a woman with shared struggles who decided to shift her energy to create her own reality and on her own terms. One of the most impactful moments I've experienced with Victoria involved her holding me accountable for hiding and avoiding (a habit I've struggled with for a long time).
She has a firm but gentle way of seeing me in my full mess while challenging me to understand myself and my behaviour, and to rise above the (sometimes pretty destructive) path of least resistance. Could not recommend this lady more emphatically!

How would I feel if I believed I was capable of getting through this time? In what way would that change my course of action?
What fears am I holding onto that are no longer serving me? How can I release these?
AND THAT’S ALL FOLKS!
