When something is common, we recognize that we are not alone and that others also deal with this problem as well... But we can't get that confused with what is normal. Normal implies that we are ordinary, that nothing needs to change and that we should continue on living the way we are.
Here's the thing however, until we are shown evidence or talk about what is normal, then by default we consider what is common around us as normal.
